How to connect TimeLens to Claude or ChatGPT

Step-by-step setup: get your MCP URL, add it to Claude or ChatGPT, set permissions, and start using TimeLens tools in AI conversations.

  • Get your MCP URL from TimeLens: Sign in to TimeLens, go to Settings → Connected apps → Add connector, and copy the MCP URL for your account.
  • Add the URL to Claude: In Claude.ai, open Settings → Connectors, click "Add custom connector", paste the TimeLens MCP URL, and sign in to approve access.
  • Add the URL to ChatGPT: In ChatGPT, open Settings → Connectors, click "Add" and choose a custom MCP connector, paste the TimeLens URL, then pick OAuth and sign in to approve access.
  • Set your permission level: Choose read-only access so your AI can read your plan, or also allow additions and updates. You can change the permission or revoke access from Settings at any time.
  • Ask your AI about your plan: In Claude or ChatGPT, type a prompt such as "Show me my plan for today", "Which projects have the most time this week?", "Log 30 minutes on deep work", or "What slipped this week?" and TimeLens tools will respond with your real data.

With write permission, they can also add tasks and update items.
  • Can Claude or ChatGPT see my projects? Yes. With read access, your AI can list projects, summarize time by project, and use project context when logging time or answering questions about where your week went.
  • Is my TimeLens data safe when using an AI connector? Yes. Your AI can never permanently delete anything in TimeLens — only archive items that you can undo. All connector actions are rate-limited and logged. You control the permission level and can revoke access from Settings at any time.
  • What is an MCP connector? MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT connect to external tools and data. The TimeLens MCP connector gives your AI access to your plan, tasks, and time logs — with your permission.
